Woman, 56, Fatally Struck By Tour Bus Near Slauson Avenue, 110 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 56-year-old woman was struck and killed Saturday by a private tour bus in South Los Angeles, a police sergeant said.

The victim was either riding or carrying a bicycle at the time of the crash, said officials.

Meanwhile, two paramedics and a motorist were injured in a crash several blocks away, as first responders rushed to the stricken bicyclist. The three suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

About 8:30 a.m., the tour bus was going southbound on Figueroa Street, making a left hand turn onto eastbound Slauson Avenue, when it hit the woman, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Susie Padilla of the South Traffic Division.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“He (the tour bus driver) just didn’t see her,” the police sergeant said. “He’s fully cooperating with police.”

The driver was not cited or arrested.

CHP closed the nearby Slauson ramps to and from the Harbor (110 Freeway), due to the police investigation, from about 9-11:45 a.m.
