Two people injured in Highway 101 crash in Ventura

One victim extricated using hydraulic rescue tools

VENTURA, Calif. – Two people were injured following a car crash on Highway 101 in Ventura Thursday night.

According to the Ventura City Fire Department, the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Thursday on the southbound side of Highway 101 at Highway 33. Two people were injured in the two vehicle accident. One of the victims was trapped inside their car and had to be extricated by firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools. Both victims were rushed to a local trauma center for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

The southbound side of Highway 101 was completely shut down during the incident.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
