CJ McConnell

Before joining M&Y, and throughout law school, CJ served first as a law student extern and later as a post-bar extern at The Innocence Center, where he advocated for and represented individuals who were wrongfully convicted. His work included drafting habeas petitions, reviewing case files and transcripts to identify errors and constitutional violations, and collaborating with attorneys and investigators to develop litigation strategies.

CJ graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2025, where he served as Diversity Chair for the Student Bar Association and President of the Pride Law Association. Through these roles, he worked to ensure student voices were heard and to promote safety and diversity within the student body.

Prior to law school, CJ served as military police in the Navy, where he helped lead the implementation of security inspection stations, oversaw law enforcement measures and anti-terrorism procedures, and provided briefings on security postures and threats.

Driven by a passion for justice, CJ approaches every case with empathy, diligence, and determination. He understands that behind every claim is a person whose life has been disrupted, and he is dedicated to ensuring that each client feels heard, supported, and empowered throughout the process.

When he is not practicing law, CJ enjoys surfing, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
