Steven S. Yamin

Steven S. Yamin has been a civil litigator in California since 2004. Mr. Yamin started Movagar & Yamin to champion the rights of individuals who have been injured or killed as a result of the negligence and wrongful conduct of other individuals or entities. Mr. Yamin’s practice focuses on clients who have been wronged, injured and need expert representation to vindicate their rights against otherwise unhelpful and uncooperative insurance companies. Mr. Yamin represents individuals who have sustained injuries in connection with motor vehicle accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, auto vs. pedestrian accidents, premises liability or slip/trip and fall incidents, and animal attacks, among other areas.

Mr. Yamin has proudly recovered tens of millions of dollars for his clients. Mr. Yamin’s notable personal injury results include a $3,000,000 settlement for the family of a woman wrongfully killed by a negligent bus driver, a $500,000.00 settlement for a client injured in a motor vehicle accident, several $250,000.00 settlements for clients injured in motor vehicle accidents, and an arbitration award for a woman whose breast implants were damaged and required repair from a motor vehicle accident.

Prior to co-founding Movagar & Yamin, Mr. Yamin served as a senior associate with a well-respected real estate law firm and as an associate in the business litigation departments of two large firms in Los Angeles. Mr. Yamin has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court in numerous areas including personal injury, wrongful death, civil litigation, commercial landlord-tenant matters, lease disputes, unlawful detainer and evictions, and a variety of other litigation and risk management issues. Mr. Yamin’s notable commercial litigation results include representing the owner of the Kodak Theatre in complex litigation involving breach of contract and indemnity claims against the contractor and designers of the Theatre and obtaining a 12-0 jury verdict in favor of his client.

Mr. Yamin received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2004 and graduated Cum Laude with Order of the Coif Honors. While at Loyola Law School, Mr. Yamin served as judicial extern to the Honorable Terry J. Hatter, Jr. of the United States District Court, Central District of California and was also an extern at the Disability Rights Legal Center, a non-profit organization representing the rights of people with disabilities through advocacy, education and litigation. Mr. Yamin was also awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for achieving the highest course grade in Evidence and Wills & Trusts.

Mr. Yamin has been recognized by numerous publications, such as Super Lawyers magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, The National Trial Lawyers, and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, among others, for the results he has obtained on behalf of his clients. Mr. Yamin has been selected multiple times as a “Rising Star” on the Southern California Super Lawyers list – an award given to less than 2.5% of practicing attorneys – and has been recognized as a “Top 100 Lawyer” and a “Top 40 Under 40” Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers.
